Day 3: Kagiso Media Hunger Relief Fund
Updated | By Darren, Keri and Sky
Kagiso Media has pledged to assist NGO's with feeding those in their communities. On Wednesday, The Action in Isolation organisation was one of those grateful recipients.
Robyn Gruijters wote: It has been 10 long weeks since we began our food relief program
to assist the children and vulnerable in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands and rural
areas.
From the announcement of school closures on Sunday 15 March 2020, our mission
has grown in passion and reach and we have been able to assist thousands of
children and their respective families through the generosity of many communities
members, local businesses and farmers.
To date, we have dished up over 22 000 meals, distributed more than 2 600 food
parcels, 1 800 bags of fortified porridge, 260 much-needed toiletry packs
(including soap, face cloths, toothpaste, toothbrushes and sanitary towels)
and distributed over 2000 fabric face masks to our little superheroes.
Our
support has extended to educational resources for rural schools, sanitiser and
masks for those prepping to re-open as well as an extensive blanket and winter
clothing drive.
We believe in the holistic well being of these children. That beyond their
nutrition there is support to be offered in terms of their education and
emotional/mental well being. How else do we positively impact their futures?
And so friends, there will continue to be work that needs to be done and we
would love to have you along! Please consider getting involved, partnering with
us and finding out how you can contribute to the vision we have for our
Midlands children.
Kagiso Media Hunger Relief Fund is proud to award Action in Isolation R12,500:
