1. Moderna vaccine more effective than Pfizer's
Moderna has said its COVID-19 vaccine was 94.5% effective with few side effects. The American biotech’s candidate uses similar RNA technology to the one being developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, whose preliminary results led to a stock rally worldwide. The latest analysis, involving 30,000 volunteers, is another sign that the fast-paced hunt for a vaccine could be paying off.

2. The Durban ICC wins two awards
The Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) has been voted the best convention centre on the African continent. It scooped two top awards for being “Africa’s Best Convention Centre 2020” and “SA’s Best Convention Centre 2020” at the World Meetings, Incentive, Conference and Exhibition (MICE) Awards.

3. WATCH: Drunk woman drives for almost 1.6km on railway line
CCTV cameras have captured an incident in Malaga, Spain, of a drunk woman who drove on a railway line for almost 1.6km. The 25-year-old driver was found to have three times the allowed blood-alcohol limit in her system; resulting in train services being delayed for nearly two hours. Rather take an Uber!

4. Shoe worn by last French queen will go on auction
A silk shoe that belonged to Marie Antoinette, the last queen of France who was executed during the French Revolution, will go up for auction on Sunday - with a starting price of 10,000 euros (R182,000). The shoe bears her name on its heel and Jean-Pierre Osenat, of the auction house that is conducting the sale, said she is thought to have worn it regularly during daily life at the palace.
5. Amazon boss pledges to help stop climate change
Amazon boss Jeff Bezos has confirmed the first of his $10-billion pledge to help stop climate change. Bezos, whose net worth is estimated at $183.6-billion, has posted on Instagram to share the news. He wrote: "I've spent the past several months learning from a group of incredibly smart people who've made it their life's work to fight climate change and its impact on communities around the world. I'm inspired by what they're doing and excited to help them scale."
