Weather services had downgraded the phenomenon from a cyclone to a tropical depression.

Extreme north eastern parts of KZN - including Jozini and Pongola - have also been experiencing significant rainfall associated with the storm.

Although SAWS says the storm is no longer a threat to the province, emergency team remain on high alert as the mentioned northern KZN towns see strong downpours this week.

The storm - with diminishing effects - now passes through southern parts of Zimbabwe towards Botswana.

The storm surged towards the southern coast of Mozambique with homes in coastal towns - the worst-affected Inhambane and Masinga - being affected.

Central and eastern parts of Limpopo, as well as the eastern parts of Mpumalanga have experienced heavy rain when the storm landed in Mozambique.

Areas north of the province including River View, Pongola and Vryheid have seen over 20 millimetres of rain.
