KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala says the province is preparing to implement tighter measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

In recent weeks KZN has seen a spike in the number of infections and deaths linked to the coronavirus.
Addressing the media on the latest Covid-19 developments in the province yesterday, he said a health promotion strategy has been developed and will be implemented with the aim of strengthening knowledge among communities.

He says while the growing rate of infection is a cause for concern, the province still has space to accommodate infected patients.
He adds the strategy will be to use healthcare workers as the key pillar in disseminating these messages.
"Coupled with this strategy will be the assessment of the suitability of households for those citizens that will choose self-isolation after testing positive as well as the process during the isolation period," he says.
