South Africa's COVID-19 deaths pass 200
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has confirmed 12 new COVID-19-related fatalities - bringing the national death toll to 206.
There are 637 new confirmed infections - taking the number of cases to 10 652.
KwaZulu-Natal now has 1372 cases following 19 new infections.
Minister Mkhize says nationally - 4 357 people have recovered.
He's explained that recoveries and deaths are considered closed cases - but that these don't get removed from the case tally.
"We keep the numbers because we have to keep the tally of how many from the first patient we have, but not all of them continue to be active cases," says Mkhize.
