South Africa's coronavirus deaths top 9 000

Another 414 people have died in South Africa, after contracting the coronavirus, taking the national death toll to over 9 000.
Sixty-two people lost their lives in KwaZulu-Natal.
The province’s overall number of fatalities has gone up to 1038.
More than 8 500 new cases have been recorded in the last 24-hour cycle nationally, pushing the number of confirmed cases to almost 530 000
377 000 people have recovered from the virus - which translates to a recovery rate of 71%.
In KZN, over 87 000 infections have been registered - with nearly 52 000 recoveries.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize coming to KZN, for a two-day oversight visit.
Mkhize says the province is expected to reach its COVID-19 peak in the coming weeks.
The Minister will head to Durban’s Clairwood Hospital before visits to Newcastle and Utrecht.
Mkhize will also hear from Provincial and District health managers on challenges in the province.
