South Africa records highest number of COVID-19 deaths in 24-hrs

The latest coronavirus statistics show that the outbreak in South Africa has taken a devastating turn.

Five hundred and seventy-two people have died in the past 24 hours, after contracting COVID-19.
The horrific toll means the total number of fatalities has climbed to 5 940.
We're now a few thousand cases shy of 400 000.
Another 13 150 new infections have been recorded - bringing the total number of confirmed cases to over 394 000.
More than 229 000 have beaten COVID-19.
Locally, KZN has recorded 50 521 infections, 477 deaths and 18 067 recoveries.
Gauteng has the highest number of cases at over 144 000, followed by the Western Cape with more than 87 000.
