Probe into COVID-19 test kits dumped on N2 in EC

The Eastern Cape Health Department says an investigation is underway into the discovery of coronavirus test kits apparently dumped on the N2 between East London and King Williams Town.

Health Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, said that this was not a Departmental issue but a matter between a courier company and the National Health Laboratory Services.
"It's a matter between a courier company and Nation Health Laboratory Services because these were in transit between hospitals.

"We need them to tell us what happened. So the process of establishing facts from the two institutions concerned is underway,
Earlier this month Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize said South African laboratories faced a critical shortage of test kits.
