Over 5 000 police officers infected with COVID-19

Over five thousand South African Police Service members and other security forces in the country have contracted the novel coronavirus.
Speaking at a roadblock in Limpopo today, Police Minister Bheki Cele said 36 officers had died as a result of the disease.
He says hundreds of police stations across the country have had to be temporarily shut for decontamination after cases were reported.
"The sad situation with this COVID-19, we are not given the opportunity to honour those of us that have fallen.

"We have a tradition that we honor them, we give them a parade, we are with their families.
"Under these circumstances, it's unfortunate they die alone and the families suffer alone. It's an enemy that is deadly, he said.
