eThekwini will move to level 4 of the lockdown - Zikalala
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala says the eThekwini district will move to level 4 of the lockdown on Friday.
Zikalala addressed members of the media in Durban, on Wednedsay morning.
At the weekend, the Premier said that if the number of coronavirus cases keeps going up, the municipality would need to remain under strict regulations.
In eThekwini, more than 570 people have contracted the virus so far.
Zikalala says several sectors will reopen on Friday. But the regulations attached to level 4 - will be strictly enforced.
"Ethekwini is going to be part of those that are opening up some sectors. It means we will be part of level four, but that means that all regulations that are still attached will be implemented strictly."
"It means in transport, we will need to look on whether people have masks and people are protected, and there is social distancing."
"Today, we will be interacting with business communities, especially the big companies. We will be talking to CEO's on the issue of, how ready are they for the opening." Zikalala said.
Provincial government this morning received a donation of 10 mobile COVID-19 testing vehicles.
They'll be used to test around 120 people a day and 20 000 a month and will be deployed to different parts of KwaZulu Natal.
The vehicles were donated by the Concerned Citizens COVID-19 team -- in partnership with Nedbank, SPAR and Chroma Capital.
