COVID-19: SA records over 200 deaths in 24 hours

The coronavirus continues to wreak havoc in our country with 250 people having died from the virus in the last 24 hours.

Half of these were recorded in Gauteng, 139, while 50 deaths were recorded in KwaZulu-Natal.

It is the second highest 24 hour cycle death figure.
On Wednesday night Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize said 572 lives had been claimed by the virus within a 24 hour cycle.
This now means SA's death toll is at 6 343.

The majority of deaths are still coming from the Western at 2 827 followed by the Eastern Cape with 1 406, Gauteng with 1 326 and KZN 565 COVID-related deaths.
South Africa's overall confirmed cases are at 421 996.
