COVID-19: SA death toll revised to 1
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize, says they have had to revise the country’s coronavirus death toll.

We were told yesterday that two women lost their lives in the Western Cape after they’d contracted COVID-19.
Mkhize says they have adjusted the figure now to one.
A 48-year-old patient - with an underlying respiratory condition died in hospital. After lab results confirmed that the second person, a 28-year-old woman had tested negative for the virus doctors said the cause of death was respiratory stress.
The number of cases in the country has climbed to 1 170, with 55 people in hospital.
Four patients are in ICU and three have been placed on ventilation. Mkhize confirmed 31 recoveries but warned that the spread of the virus to people with underlying diseases is increasing.
