COVID-19 case shuts down Durban High Court
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The Durban High Court has been shut down after a staff member contracted Covid-19.
Cases scheduled to appear at the court from today- will not be heard until further notice.
Decontamination has begun at the building.
Attorney Lasanthan Pillay - who frequents the High Court says this will create a backlog in cases.

"This upsets us in numerous ways, we were supposed to go down there today to request some files as clients wanted my firm to conduct work for them," he said.
Pillay added that in these circumstances he can't continue with the work because the court has shut down.
"Further to that effect, we had matters set down at court and we are not sure what is going to happen with those matters if the court is closed indefinitely, so this will create a huge backlog," he said.
Last month the Durban Magistrate Court closed its doors - when a staff member tested positive for the virus.
