Coronavirus: No resources to manage KZN borders, says Zikalala
KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Sihle Zikalala says border control management has been a challenge - with the new coronavirus prevention plan.
Zikalala says the province doesn't have the workforce and resources to monitor its borders with countries like Mozambique and eSwatini continually.
He says they have reached out to the national government for support.
Zikalala says they have been in contact with MSC Cruises - which this week cancelled all remaining trips from Durban and Cape Town for the 2019/2020 season.
"They are coming back on Friday, and when they come back, they will follow processes. They have committed that from Friday they will not opperate. They have committed that they will offer one of their ships for services in support of government."

Economic Development officials in KZN will soon meet with local businesses to come up with ways to work together to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus.
This is according to MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube - who says business, especially the tourism sector, have reached out to them and indicated they're taking a knock.
Speaking at a press conference in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday - she said they'd encouraged business owners to make the most of the involuntary downtime.
"Some of them have applied for funding for renovations to their B&Bs. We are saying start doing your renovations now while you are at a low rate of utilisation, start doing all the work that you want to do before the pickup season starts. But we are also saying let's start planning for our domestic campaigns."
