Emotions ran high on Day 8 of The Big Favour in Partnership with LottoStar. Many recipients shed tears of gratefulness for what was done for them.

Recipient 1

Nominator Name: Gail Janjetich

Nominee Name: Benedicte Haley

"I nominate Benedicte (Bee) to receive this as she lost her job six months ago and has been battling to find another. Since losing her job she makes dream catchers and sells them at various markets to make a living, but now during the shutdown, she has not been able to do this and is really finding this time hard. She and her husband (who is also unemployed) are the most generous and sincere people and they would even try to help someone in need and go without themselves. Please consider their situation and I truly hope that you will be able to help them."

Nominee Name: Michelle Jacobs

"Michelle and her amazing family run Bobbi Bear non-profit organisation for abused children. The organisation currently have children in the home and still attending to cases. They rely on donations but in the uncertain times, these are few. The "rough aunties' at Bobbi Bear are doing everything basically on nothing, they are a family who has faced so many obstacles and now lockdown,if they nominated the money will keep them running, pay for urgent medical matters, food, electricity and the fuel for them to continue there work. Please consider them for this amazing opportunity to ensure the safety of the children."

Recipient 4

Nominator Name: Virginia Horsley

Nominee Name:  Genevieve Liebenberg

"An NPO which helps people and animals in need. She is an exceptional human being, kind and generous. She owns a coffee shop in Hillcrest called Cafe Breve, and has not been able to trade since lockdown, with no source of income. She may not be able to pay rent this month but she is more concerned that she doesn't have the finances to help the people, the babies and the animals who rely on her work through her NPO. One of the hardest parts of the lockdown is that she is not able to travel to the babies and families that she supports. She has not given up, and has been looking for online work she can do from home to help earn an income during this time, not just for her but to send food and electricity vouchers to those in need, but has not had any success so far. I could not think of anyone more deserving of a helping hand - a BIG Favour."

Recipient 5

Nominator Name: Faye McIntosh

Nominee Name: Lindy Robinson

"Aunty Lindy is a single mother, who has been unemployed for close on 2 years, however, that has not stopped her from trying to support her own little family without depending on those around her. She attends weekly local flea markets selling second-hand items in order to support her son. Her son's father is currently living in the UK and does not send any money in order to help support this family. Aunty Lindy is a very hard worker and has a heart of gold, she is always willing to help anyone in need, she is the kind of person who is always one call away no matter what, and will give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. Currently, with this lockdown period, she, unfortunately, has no source of income whatsoever, times are tough, and now getting tougher as she cant attend these markets until lockdown is lifted. I really wish that ECR and Lotto Star can make things just that little bit better for this little Family during these challenging times."
