Dlamini: 'Break the silence'

The Minister in the Presidency responsible for women, Bathabile Dlamini, is calling on South Africans to embrace the UN's theme for this year's 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence: 'Orange the World: #HearMeToo'.
The annual campaign kicks off today.

Speaking at a media briefing yesterday, Dlamini said we need to break the silence around abuse and violence against women and children.
“#HearMeToo symbolises a collective appeal to society, to hear women’s pain and their demands against gender-based violence,” she says, “It is also a call to action to all victims, survivors, witnesses and others affected, to continue to speak up - in any manner - about or against violence. It is only when we collectively speak against this scourge that we can hope to completely end it”.
