Durban guest house bilker alert
Updated | By Diane Macpherson
A listener who owns a guest house on Durban's Berea is warning other
guest houses and B&B's owners to beware of a man who stayed for
seven nights recently and paid via a bogus EFT.
The man, Hagesh, had responded to an advert on Gumtree and had also allegedly helped himself to the contents of the home owner's fridge/freezer. Apparently he is very smooth-talking and claims to be here working on contract. A police case has been opened against him at Berea station.
Home invasion in La Lucia
A La Lucia domestic worker was lucky to escape unharmed when robbers fired shots during a home invasion at the weekend. Blue Security says the woman had manage to go into hiding in the house after she spotted armed robbers in a white BMW about to gatecrash the Churchill Avenue property at 12.48pm on Saturday. The robbers gained entry to the home through the kitchen door which was open and fled with a flat screen television, laptops and jewellery. The robbers fired several shots as they fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
Earlier that day in Spode Place in Umgeni Park gatecrashers forced open the driveway gate of a property at around midday. A laptop was stolen.
CPF meeting alert
Finally, the next meeting of the Asherville Community Police Forum will take place on Tuesday, 20 October 2015 at David Landau Community Centre at 18:00. The Community is encouraged to attend.
