There is something about a person's voice that can be so welcoming.

We guess that's why people have their favourite DJ's or Radio hosts. Because listening to someone's voice can be so calming, and in other cases, so annoying.

A University in Germany, The Georg-August University of Göttingen, decided to look into the connection between a person's voice and their personality.

"Studies have reported that voice characteristics influence mate choice." (MSN)

Although many people consider their first attractions about their partners to be their looks, the voice can definitely pay a big role in whether someone finds you likeable or not.

"Even voting behavior is influenced by the politician's voice, as voters prefer to vote for candidates with a lower voice." (MSN)

The study taken on by The Georg-August University of Göttingen "analyzed the voice pitch of 2,217 people aged 18 to 56 and included data from four countries.

With a detailed questionnaire, the participants provided information about their personality and their private lives, among other things." (MSN)

The participants voices were measured using a computer program, as a way of accessing the exact pitch. And then the results were evaluated against the questionnaires.

"In our study, we found that people with a deeper voice tended to be more extraverted, more dominant, and less restrictive in their sociological sexuality," said Dr. Julia Stern, research leader of the study at the University of Göttingen, in a press statement. (MSN)

While people with deep voices are more interested in short-term relationships, change their sex partners more often. This behaviour was noticed in both male and female participants.

Surprisingly, people with low voices are considered trustworthy in a work setting, but are accused of being unfaithful in relationships.

Even though that was said about deeper voices, males with deeper voices are said to be more attractive.

People with higher voices were perceived as introverts and less dominant.

Higher voiced people were also found to be "slightly more anxious, nervous and emotionally unstable, although they were more likely to be in long-term relationships." (MSN)

And get this, men are traditionally attracted more to women with high-pitched voices. Apparently according to the concept of evolution, "a high-pitched voice in women could suggest fertility and femininity." (MSN)
