I have always wondered how a baby would react to seeing a parent's twin.
My mother passed away a few years ago after failing to recover from an aneurysm.
She was hospitalized for a few weeks, which gave her a family time to come down from Johannesburg. My cousin brought her young son Michael with her.
On the morning she passed Michael was with us in the ICU. We were hoping that my Mom's twin to arrive before she drew her last breathe. Unfortunately they were a literally 5 minutes too late. As we were solemnly standing dealing with this loss, she arrived.
Michael swung around to see who had rushed into the room. His mouth dropped, then he screamed ''your mom is alive!"
This was the first time he had met her identical twin in the flesh. His innocent remark lifted the mood immediately and we all had smiles on our faces.
