Anti- Racism Action Forum want De Klerk and Vlok prosecuted! Find out why?

We chatted to Zanele Lwana from the Anti- Racism Action Forum to find out what they are all about.

The Anti-Racism Action Forum (ARAF) made the news this week when they called for De Klerk and Vlok to be prosecuted for the crimes they committed during apartheid.

ARAF chose this week to launch their cause because of it's historical significance.

It was on Friday the 2nd of February 1990 that De Klerk announced his intention to release Nelson Mandela and unban the African National Congress (ANC), Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), and the South African Communist Party (SACP)!

As we have learned, negotiations were going on behind closed doors for a while already, so when he announced this, we had already started along the path towards political freedom for the majority of South Africans. But this was a huge moment for ordinary citizens, most of whom celebrated the news!

ARAF chose the day to bring their charges against De Klerk and Vlok. Very symbolic.

They also used the opportunity to release their Manifesto.

In brief their main principles are as follows:

1. LAND RETURN AS THE ONLY CONDITION TOWARDS ENDING RACISM.

2. BLACKS CANNOT BE RACISTS

3. ANTI-RACISM STRUGGLE TO BE LED ONLY BY BLACK PEOPLE.

You can read the entire manifesto here.

We decided to give Zanele Lwana a call to clarify some of their principles. The conversation got a little heated!
