How many of us actually think before taking a step onto an escalator?
I mean, what’s the worst that can happen? If it stops and if you’re not holding on, I guess you’ll lurch forward or backwards depending on the direction you’re travelling. But think again. It could be worse.

A man at an underground station in Turkey was literally swallowed by an escalator when part of the actual escalator opened up under his feet.
The terrifying footage starts by showing people going down the escalator. In an instant, it malfunctioned and sent the man plummeting into the ground.
He was trapped for over an hour, but thankfully Metro reported that he was rescued by firefighters and was treated for minor injuries.
Let's just say that I will be taking the stairs from now on. Eek!
