Guests hold on for dear life to escape besieged Kabul hotel
Updated | By Damon Beard
Hanging by a thread, these guests were prepared to do anything to flee this terrifying situation.
Can you imagine the terror - a 12-hour rampage and a violent siege of an Afghanistan luxury international hotel by Taliban gunmen, where everything becomes completely chaotic.
The scene was like something out of an action movie. Fire and smoke engulfed the building, and guests hid in rooms due to gunfire outside. The siege left 14 foreigners and four locals dead. An estimated 150 people were rescued, including 41 foreigners.

Dramatic footage has been doing the rounds on social media showing terrified guests climbing down the balconies from the six-storey block, as black smoke billowed out of rooms.
Using sheets, these guests risked their lives to get to safety, literally hanging by threads. In this fight or flight situation, these guests chose to fight their way to safety and many, including myself, are commending them. I'm not sure if I would be as brave as these guests?
