An avid runner decided to ask his girlfriend to the prom in the most unique way

It's Matric prom time, hearts are aflutter and learners across the country are arranging suits and ballgowns in hopes of making the biggest impression possible by arriving at their school dance in style.

But is the inviting of the prospective partner just as important in this day and age or is it just a simple 'Will you come with me to the prom?'

A learner who's an avid runner decided to ask his princess to the prom in a unique way ... and his proposal has gone viral. I give this young man 10 out of 10 for really going the extra mile to ask for his partner to be his date.

He ran five and a half miles across the city up and down the streets in a special way - because it was all planned and the route he took was recorded by his iPhone app, and spelled out  the word ‘Prom’ with a question mark!

 Hormones went into overdrive on Twitter when the proposal was shared.

"How did i ask my date to join me at my prom...

I must be honest and say I wasn't the romantic type and I merely said, 'Do you want to go with me...."
