What's the best age for your child to go to school?

It's a decision that many parents battle with. Would it not be easier if there was a compulsory age for kids to start school?

Being a parent, deciding when to send your child to school is quite a difficult one, but it's one of those tough decisions that you have to make.

All three of my kids went to playschool from as early as a couple of months, as I had to get back to work. Sure, it was only for a few hours a day, and it also got to the stage that instead of care, they were in need of interaction with other kids and needed the stimulation.

My twins are going into Grade 1 in 2019, and I can't believe how much they actually know. I'm sure at that age, I was throwing rocks into a bucket in the garden - not spelling and stringing words onto paper. Ha!

Parent24 recently reported that Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, wants to make it compulsory for kids from three-years-old to start attending school. Currently, the age for kids in France to start school is six.

It is reported that he wants to break down any inequalities that regions may experience in other areas around the world.

"A South African child may start school at the age of five-and-a-half, provided she turns six by June 30 of her Grade one year. By law, a child must start school by the year in which she turns seven," Parent24 reported in an article.

Ultimately, it is up to the parents to decide when a child is ready to start school. For Mr T and I, we decided this year that the twins are ready for big school next year, they too need time to adjust to their new surroundings - this can be quite a challenge.
