The Midmar Dam, situated in Howick, is an earth-fill and gravity dam that is used for municipal and industrial use. It is also the place where the world's largest open water swimming event, the Midmar Mile, is hosted.
When people think of Midmar, it brings back many memories over the years, that's why we were pleasantly surprised to come across this majestic drone footage of the dam by Pietermaritzburg resident, Rakesh Morar.

Morar took to his Facebook page to post the HD drone footage, which has already received over 20,000 views.
"Midmar Dam Overflowing 😀 Amazing sight after such a long time :)," he said in his post.
It's a view from the top, one that you've probably never seen before. Absolutely breathtaking!
