Jane's three signs that you're in a one-sided friendship

Friendships are usually a give-and-take type of situation, but when one friend gives and gets nothing in return, that's a sign the friendship is headed for disaster.

Being in a one-sided friendship sucks.

I have been in a one-sided friendship before. It's exhausting, frustrating, and sometimes hurtful - the constant output with no input is awful.

So, in a bid to help you, I have put together my list of three signs that your friend may have moved on:

  • The only time you connect is when you instigate it - You're always the one who reaches out and attempts to make a connection. If you didn't reach out in the first place, nothing would have happened.

  • They only surface when they need something - If you haven't heard from them in months, and you only hear from them when they need to borrow cash or need a lift to the airport, there is trouble brewing.

  • The excuses are thick and fast around poor communication - The "Sorry work/life has been hectic, hey" excuse can only last for a short while. After that, you just become so used to it.
