How soon is too soon to talk marriage?

This is one of those topics that doesn't have a definite answer, and it depends on the couple.

Getting into a relationship is full of joy, but as times goes on, some important conversations have to take place. Meeting the parents, the possibility of moving in together, do you want children or not - the list goes on. However, for some reason, the marriage talk seems to be the hardest one. 

Do you do it straight out the gate, wait for a month or two, maybe it takes years? My only argument would be that sooner would be better because I would think that you two should be on the same page. Imagine you're dating for a year and then you learn the other person is against the concept of marriage, but you've already planned your dream wedding. I would not want to be a fly on that wall!

I know of folk who were married a year into knowing each other and others who have been engaged for five years. Isn’t chatting about this a question that is easy to talk about? I suppose it’s the same way some people can say I love you more comfortably than others. 

I am a communicator, so speaking my feelings has never been a challenge. In a nutshell, if you are with the right person, there will be no such thing as the right time, but instead, it will come up casually with no fuss.

A Cosmopolitan article says these are usually factors people consider;

• Age and babies: that clock is ticking.
• Some people just want to get it out of the way and there's no harm in that.
• Just wanting to know where you stand in the relationship - hey, who could blame you here?!
