A Grassy Park pensioner is living proof that it’s never too late for a little magic.
The retired grandmother’s life changed in an instant after she bagged a staggering R13 million in the Lotto Plus jackpot, all from a humble R40 ticket.
The lucky ticket, handpicked with her usual numbers, was bought at a local store ahead of the draw on Wednesday, April 23.
Little did she know, those numbers were about to change her life forever.
“I sat there watching the TV as the numbers popped up, one after the other,” she recalled.
“I kept double-checking my ticket because I just couldn’t believe it. I’ve never won anything big in my life. This still feels like a dream!”
She had scribbled her details on the back of the ticket and tucked it away safely (just in case), never expecting it to be the one.
When the reality hit, her first call was to her son, eager to share the life-changing news.
The new millionaire says the win will finally give her more time to dig into her hobbies and enjoy her retirement the way she’s always dreamed.
However, she’s not keeping it all to herself.
Along with securing her future, she plans to donate a portion of her winnings to charity, hoping to spread a little joy to others in need.
