Nike responds to Serena Williams' catsuit ban

Following The French Open ban on Serena Williams' iconic catsuit, many took to social media to stand up for the tennis queen - as well as manufacturer Nike.

We all know Serena Williams as the queen of the tennis court, so naturally when she stepped out in her bold superhero-looking catsuit during the first three rounds of The French Open, fans and spectators all over the world were in awe.

The 36-year-old wore the outfit in honour of all new mothers, but it was also a medical necessity to prevent her from developing blood clots. 

The tennis icon said that the outfit made her look and feel like a warrior princess.

However, not everyone was happy with the attire.

According to UNILAD, French Tennis Federation (FTF) President, Bernard Guiducelli, issued a statement regarding her look. 

Following an uproar on social media, Nike finally hit back in support of Williams in a tweet.

Darren thinks that the federation is right. Rules are rules and just because she's Serena doesn't mean she doesn't have to follow the rules.
