Meet the world’s oldest newborn baby - Thaddeus Daniel Pierce

Meet Thaddeus: The baby who’s older than TikTok and Wi-Fi!

If you thought your family was complicated, get ready to meet little Thaddeus Daniel Pierce.
He’s a baby born last week in Ohio in the United States of America, from an embryo that’s been chilling in a freezer longer than most Gen Zs have been alive.
Let’s do the math here:
- Embryo frozen: May 1994
- Baby born: July 26, 2025
- Time in deep freeze: Over 30 years!
Wait, so how does a 30-year-old embryo become a baby in 2025?
The New York Post reported that Lindsey (34) and Tim Pierce (35) from London, Ohio, decided to take the road less travelled and stumbled upon something called embryo adoption.
“We thought it was wild,” Lindsey said. Same, girl. SAME.
The couple adopted the long-frozen embryo through a programme run by Nightlight Christian Adoptions.
The programme pairs hopeful parents with unused embryos donated by families who went through IVF.
When Lindsey gave birth to baby Thaddeus, she unknowingly also gave birth to a record-breaker – the world’s oldest embryo to result in a successful live birth.

Here’s the wildest part. The woman who created the embryo, Archerd, had frozen four embryos back in the early ’90s while undergoing IVF.
One of those gave her a daughter in 1994. That daughter is now 30 and has a 10-year-old child of her own.
So, Thaddeus technically has a big sis who’s old enough to vote, pay taxes, and maybe complain about her back.
Modern family, meet science fiction.

Besides the obvious (that Jurassic Baby is now a thing), this story opens up a bigger conversation about science, ethics, family, and the magic of modern fertility options.
Lindsey and Tim didn’t set out to break a record. “We just wanted a baby,” she said.
In the process, they also got a footnote in scientific history.
Welcome to the world, little vintage legend.
