Let's support Shakes and Bafana

Bafana Bafana face a huge task of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and we should rally behind them.

The South African national side relinquished a 1-0 lead in their qualifying opener to draw 1-1 with Burkina Faso but it could have been worse.

In that match, we conceded two penalties, one of which was an unfair decision and our assistant coach, Owen Da Gama was sent off. Every 50/50 battle we won was called as a foul against us.

I know conceding so late in the game can be so devastating but I think a point away from home under those conditions is a point earned as opposed to being two points dropped.

We just need to make sure that we win all our three home games and give it our all away. Ephraim "Shakes" Mashaba has proved before that we can compete in the continent by helping us qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with a game to spare.

Senegal, Cape Verde and Burkina Faso are not the biggest teams in the Continent right now and beating them in our backyard is highly possible.

I know, most fans, including myself wanted Mashaba to be relieved of his duties but SAFA has decided to keep him. Our only option is to support instead of pointing fingers.

I would like to see the coach smoking the peace pipe with Kermit Erasmus who I believe is the only striker that is capable of solving our goal-scoring problems.
