ECR & LottoStar made a millionaire
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
LottoStar’s Fortune Frenzy has been a month of games, excitement and charity - and it all led to 120 contestants - one million rand - and one WINNER!

For the past few weeks, East Coast Radio and LottoStar have been putting our listeners’ nerves (and reflexes) to the ultimate test.
All in the name of fun, fundraising, and the small matter of ONE MILLION RAND! The LottoStar Fortune Frenzy was no ordinary giveaway.
It was part radio game show, part charity drive for Breadline Africa and all-out chaos in the best possible way.
Let’s recap the madness – from the very first plane that took off… to the moment one lucky South African became a millionaire.
Week 1: Aviator - Take the cash and bail!
We kicked things off mid-air with Aviator, the game that gave new meaning to “flying by the seat of your pants.”
Listeners joined East Coast Breakfast, Carol Ofori, and Danny Guselli to play a live on-air game where the plane would take off, and the goal was simple:
Cash out before the plane disappears.
For every rand the listener won, Breadline Africa got the same amount.
So not only were you playing for yourself, you were literally banking it for charity too.
Risk and reward had never looked so generous.
Week 2: Money Grab - Deal or no deal?
Week two was for the decision-makers.
16 bags. One listener. One presenter. Two amounts revealed.
Here’s the major twist though: you don’t know which bag has the big bucks.
Do you swap with the presenter or stick with your gut and keep your bag?
It was like The Bachelor met Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and all we could do was scream at our radios, “TAKE THE BAG!”
With R500 to R250,000 on the table, this game was all about intuition (and maybe just a little panic).
Week 3: Beat The Bomb - Risk it all or play it safe
Nothing gets the blood pumping like knowing one wrong move could blow up your dreams (literally).
In Beat The Bomb, our listeners faced 30 mysterious balls.
20 of them were filled with real money. 10 of them were bombs.
One wrong pick and boom - you’re out.
The goal was to collect as much money as you can before hitting a bomb.
The tension was unbearable, with the stakes being a solid R250,000.
There was nervous laughter and sweaty palms all around, but we made it through.
The Grand Finale: One Million Rand on the line
Then came the moment we were all waiting for - the LIVE finale at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel in Umhlanga.
This is where 120 lucky golden ticket holders gathered for a final, fate-driven showdown.

Game 1: Sudden Death - The Golden Ticket
120 envelopes. 60 golden tickets. 60 black ones.
It was as brutal and random as a high school group project partner selection.
You either moved on… or went home faster than the plane in Week 1.

Game 2: Colour Roulette
Things got colourful - literally.
The remaining 60 contestants picked one of four envelopes with different colours inside (15 people per colour).
Then - the randomiser selected a random colour.
That one colour got the golden nod and moved to the next round.
The other 45? Bye, babes.
PS. Red Team WON!

Game 3: Gold Bars & Gold Stars
15 shiny gold bars were laid out like a million-rand buffet.
Only three had the secret ingredient: a gold star.
Find one, and you’re in the final round.
Miss it? Well, we hope you got a good selfie with the bar.

The Final Showdown: The Million Rand Briefcase
This was the moment everyone had been waiting for.
Three finalists. Three briefcases. Only one held the life-changing million-rand prize.
In the end, the briefcase, the glory, and the full-blown shock of becoming a millionaire went to…
Nehal Parsad – the ultimate Fortune Frenzy champion!
Congratulations to our newest MILLIONAIRE!

So what did we learn from all of this?
Well - simply put; life’s a gamble.
Sometimes you beat the bomb, sometimes the plane flies off without you, and every once in a while - you pick the right briefcase and change your life in a single moment.
In the process of blessing someone with a million rand, you also helped put real cash in the hands of Breadline Africa, changing lives far beyond your own.
Now that’s the real jackpot.

Thank you to LottoStar for this amazing campaign and helping us help one KZN family and the many school kids that Breadline Africa will help.
