FlySafair’s new AI WhatsApp chatbot ‘Lindi’
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast / Skyye Ndlovu
FlySafair’s AI buddy Lindi now lets you book flights and change seats via WhatsApp.

If you’ve ever stood in a never-ending airport queue or juggled five different tabs trying to book a flight, FlySafair just dropped something that might make your travel life a whole lot easier.
Her name is Lindi - South Africa’s latest AI-powered travel assistant.
The best part is you don’t even need an app for this one. She chats to you via WhatsApp.
Whether it’s booking a flight, changing your seat, or getting travel info - it’s now as easy as texting your bestie (except this bestie actually gets things done on time).

Right now, Lindi is still in pilot mode (pun 100% intended), but she’s already got a solid set of skills.
Through a simple WhatsApp chat, you can book a flight, change your seat and get up-to-date travel information
Oh - and there’s more on the way!
FlySafair says they’re already working on adding extra functionality soon.
So, before long, you might be confirming your next holiday, ordering snacks, or asking about weather delays all through a WhatsApp chat with Lindi.
Why ‘Lindi’ is a game-changer
FlySafair’s chief marketing officer, Kirby Gordon, says Lindi offers what’s essentially a free, private travel assistant for every customer at scale.
That means you don’t have to deal with call centres or download yet another app you’ll forget about in two weeks.
It’s just a smooth, natural chat to get what you need.
While other airlines have AI bots dishing out generic information about destinations and flights, Lindi takes it a step further by actually letting you book flights directly through her.
She’s the first of her kind in South Africa to do this.
Although, since Lindi is still in beta, there are a couple of things she can’t handle just yet, namely:
- You can only book for one passenger at a time
- No business class, infant, group, or travel agent bookings for now
In all honesty though, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was your perfect AI travel sidekick.
So, if you’re a frequent flyer or just someone who loves avoiding unnecessary admin, it’s worth giving Lindi a try.
Open WhatsApp, start a chat, and let her handle the travel fuss while you focus on the things that really matter.
Like deciding whether it’s too early for a cocktail at the airport (PS: it’s never too early).
