Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
Comrades Marathon 2025 champion Tete Dijane joined us at the Winners Breakfast to reflect on his epic race, his surprise gesture, and the rising rivalry with Pete Wiersman.

We had the privilege of attending the Comrades Marathon Winners Breakfast, where the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and pride.
Among the champions, Tete Dijane, the remarkable male champion of the Comrades Marathon, shared his inspiring journey with us.
When asked about his thoughts on the day, Dijane responded with gratitude, "I'm really happy. I can't say it's what I was expecting, but I came prepared. I was ready for a war."
His words echoed the rigorous preparation and determination that went into becoming a champion.
In a lighter moment, the conversation turned to a memorable gesture Dijane made during the race. The move he did just before crossing the finish line, when he turned around and looked at Pete Wiersman and made some gesture.
Dijane recounted it as a celebratory move by DJ Maphorisa, meaning “not again”.
The conversation also touched on the future rivalry with fellow runner Wiersman, with Dijane acknowledging his potential: "Pete is very strong, and he's still young. He's still coming."
Dijane's humility and recognition of Wiersman's strength showed the respect and sportsmanship that transcends competition.
