#DurbanHouseFire: Locals reach out to Gerber family
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
Once again Durban proves that it's a community of love, care, and hope. Thank you to everyone who heard the Gerber family's cry for help after a devastating fire burnt their home to the ground.
Last week we received a heart-breaking email from Jeanecke, daughter of Mr and Mrs Gerber, whose home was tragically burnt down to the ground.
The Gerber family lost everything they owned when 90% of their home was engulfed in flames. We gave Jeanecke a call to find out what happened and how we could help.

We asked KZN to help us help this family by donating items of clothing, cosmetics, and food by dropping it off at East Coast Radio House - and the response was overwhelming!
Sky asked the Gerber family to come to the studio as he had a surprise for them.
Thank you to Matress King for their King and Queen size bed donations, Vanessa from Shoprite for the R3,000 food voucher, and various cash donations, clothing, blankets, food, cutlery, sheets, bedding, and many other items that were dropped off at East Coast Radio House, Umhlanga.

These items will change the lives of the Gerber family, and give them a chance to rebuild and have hope for the future. Thank you!
