6 Moments Ronaldo was "finished"

Cristiano Ronaldo has only scored once in the Spanish La Liga this season while his reival, Lionel Messi has netted 12 times and once again his haters have started to say he is finished.

This morning we discuss Telkom Knockout results, spitting incident involving Michael Morton and Gabadinho Mhango as well as Cristiano Ronaldo's slump. Listen to the podcast and read more on the blog below:

I'm actually getting sick of hearing the same thing over and over again. That's what the prophets of doom have been saying over the last 10 years or so.

Let's look at six of the most prominent moments people thought Ronaldo's productivity as a player has come to an end.

1. Ronaldo won his firts UEFA Champions League title with Manchester United in 2008 but when the Red Devils lost to Lionel Messi Barcelona in the 2009 final everyone thought there's a new King of football in town and Ronaldo's time is up! Guess what! eight years later he's won the trophy a further three times.

2. When Messi won the Ballon dÓr four times in a row, with Sepp Baltter's influence, everyone thought CR7 would give up but he has caught up with him and somewhat surpassed his achievements.

3. Ronaldo joined Real Madrid for a world record fee in 2009 and when Gareth Bale joined the same team for an even heftier fee in 2013, everone thought it was the beginning of a new era and Ronaldo's dominance is over but as we speak he's the current holder of the best footballer in the world crown.

4. Madrid endured a trophyless  2014/15 season while Barcelona which had the maenacing MSN(Messi, Suarez, Neymar) trio won a treble but the greatest footballer ever bounced back and won the Champions League two year in a row.

5. Ronaldo's Portugal could only manage three points in the group stages (Ronaldo missed a penalty in one of the games) to progress to the EURO 2016 last 16, and the prophets of doom expected them to crash out of the tournament anytime but they went on to lift the trophy.

6. In the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League Madrid lost 2-0 to Wolfsburg in the quarterfinals and everyone thought the G.O.A.T is out of the tournament but in the return leg he scored a scintilating first half hat-trick t hand his team a 3-2 win on aggreaget and Madrid went on to win the trophy.

The moral of the story is, he always has a way to silence his critics. I'm 100% that he will have the last laugh. Before you say Ronaldo is finished, think twice.
