WATCH: Man brings new meaning to mobile mechanic

Don't let this video give you any ideas...Remember safety first.

South Africans have a unique way of approaching things. We tend to act in the moment and focus on the consequences of our actions later.
You might be familiar with the 'crossing that bridge when you get there' mindset.
It isn't always the best way to approach some of life's problems. However, sometimes we are forced to act fast in response to something, and it prompts us to do what we can in the circumstances.
We think this is what happened in this story. Seeing a man sitting inside the bonnet of a car isn't unusual, but seeing him do so while the vehicle is moving isn't something we are used to.

In the video, we see a man working under the bonnet of a van while it's moving. The person recording it didn't share more information about what was happening. The scariest part was seeing that the vehicle had no driver steering it.
While we would never recommend this, it was interesting to see because there are moments when mechanics need to test something in motion, perhaps this was one of those moments. It was not ideal, though, considering it looked like a public road.

One person said, "Diagnosing and test driving at the same time, what a skill."
Another called it a "drive-thru mechanic," while another said this was the "Real meaning of Mobile mechanic."
