South African who lived abroad shares admiration for Durban

Home is where the heart is - a saying that never fails to teach us a thing or two about what it feels like to be home.

There's something truly humbling about hearing people talk about your city. It makes us fall in love with it all over again.

Seeing our home through the eyes of someone else is magical.

We recently received a beautiful reminder of that from a South African who has returned home. Randall Mitchell has been living abroad for many years, and now that he's back home, he is visiting different parts of South Africa.

Mitchell recently visited Durban and had such heartwarming things to say about our city.

His video led many KZN'ers and fellow South Africans to share their suggest spots he should see.

  • "Come see the South of KZN. The most beautiful Mountain range and Lesotho just up the Mountain."
  • "I'm from Durban. Visit Mpumalanga province, too. It has a very beautiful landscape. The eastern Free State is also beautiful, particularly Clarens."
  • "Durban is always beautiful and it’s just that one province is always trying hard to politically outshine the others even in the media and forgetting they are also part of SA. Durban should start using that ‘WORD OF THE DAY NOW’ now."
  • "I couldn't agree more, I love Durban, but the North of Durban."
  • "Enjoy my hometown! Mmpumalanga is another must see."
