Does knowing that mopane worms are high in protein make you want to try them?

Some might say that while protein is essential, getting your daily dose from mopane worms doesn't appeal to their taste buds. Botswanan chef, author and proud Botswana national Kenneth Tebogo Middleton shared an interesting recipe on social media.

Middleton started by taking a big bite out of a protein bar that was decorated with chocolate and topped with a mopane worm in the middle.

He then proceeded to share the star ingredient for his protein bars, mopane worms.

He took more than a handful and ground them into a powder, which became the base of his protein bar recipe.

After adding the rest of the ingredients and combining the wet with the dry, he mixed it all up and put it in the oven. He then melted Lindt chocolate to top over the bars once they were cooled.

It might not seem like it but his video attracted some positive comments.

One person said, "Bro, you’re constantly pushing boundaries. I’m inspired."

"You've surpassed thinking outside the box."

"Vinkubala, what a delicacy!!! Any Zambian here? We even snack on them like Cheetos or something."

It seems that Mopane worms are a favourite not only in South Africa and its surroundings but also in Zambia.

Even Nonkanyiso Conco, a previous Real Housewife of Durban, commented, "I would eat this, only if there's no mopani as garnish on top, and after I've eaten, you tell me the ingredients."
