ECR fam votes on the most expensive suburb in Durban

A post by South African content creators got us thinking about the most expensive areas in Durban, so we asked Durbanites for their unfiltered opinion.

A video showing The Boys South Africa merging with Durban content creators to learn more about Durban left us pondering a key question after watching one of their videos: Which suburb in Durban is the most expensive?

In the video, The Boys South Africa asks a Durban content creator, Shehzaad Shaik, known to many as yoshezzy, to estimate the price of some houses on the property market. The Boys are shocked by some property prices and admit they did not expect Durban to be this pricey.

The video opened up an online conversation, with many Durbanites commenting on the video. This got us thinking about the most expensive suburb in Durban, according to Durbanites.

We contacted a property agent from Jazmax Properties in Newlands West and asked for some insight into the most expensive suburbs in Durban currently.

These are the areas that we were given as a guideline.

  • Umhlanga
  • Durban North
  • Hillcrest
  • Westville
  • Morningside
  • Musgrave

We posted the vote on social media, and Durbanites responded with their views. We received over 2,200 votes.

Most people agreed that Umhlanga is the most expensive suburb. Others questioned why we omitted Ballito, but Ballito falls outside eThekwini.

Check out the poll results below.

  • Umhlanga - 82%
  • Durban North - 4%
  • Hillcrest - 11%
  • Westville - 1%
  • Morningside - 0%
  • Musgrave - 2%
