Don't be fooled by this 'Nigerian Siya Kolisi' scamming video
Some red flags start swaying immediately, hearing Siya Kolisi with a Nigerian accent is one of them...
South African actress and producer Connie Ferguson recently urged fans not to fall for a scam doing the rounds on social media.
People were receiving video calls on WhatsApp, showing Ferguson's face as if it were her calling them. It turns out the scammers were using artificial intelligence (AI) to create a video that looked like Ferguson.
A similar scam is currently doing the rounds on social media, except this time it is with Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi. Scammers are using Kolisi's face, with a Nigerian accent to get people to invest their money in a 'high-interest' investment scheme.

While no one has yet admitted to falling for the scam, many were frustrated at the extent to which scammers are taking their cons.
The video features the likeness of Kolisi. Still, if you look closely, you can identify that it's not him.
Scammers are using the likes of Kolisi and Ferguson to swindle fans into believing these high-profile figures are trying to contact them. The next time you get a video call from Siya Kolisi, it might be a scammer trying to steal your money.
