There are many people that somehow end up hoarding things that were either hand-me-downs or mindless purchases that were made at some time or the other.

But as a person who believes in the effects of physical clutter having mental manifestations, we have to say, it's best to adopt the mindset of - if you don't use it, then either donate, throw or repurpose.

A woman who was cleaning her house, found a trinket that she assumed was a fake diamond. Before she threw it out, her neighbour encouraged her to get it valued or assessed by a professional.

So she decided to take it through to the Featonby’s Auctioneers in London to be valued. Mr Lane, from the auctioneers, commented that he thought it looked like a synthetic lookalike, but he was surprised to learn that it was extremely rare and valuable.

"Mr Lane also explains how he thought the rock was a synthetic diamond lookalike before it was sent off to Antwerp, Belgium where it was discovered to be a 34.19-carat colour HVS1, which is extremely rare." (MSN)

The woman said that she cannot fully recall where she acquired the diamond from, but often visited car boot sales and would buy a number of trinkets. We guess the person who sold it had no idea they were giving away a rare find...

Or maybe it was her genie that handed it over to her, guess we will never really know...

"The diamond is set to be auctioned on 30 November this year but is currently being kept safe at London’s Hatton Garden jewellery quarter." (MSN)

The diamond it said to be worth £2-million, which is around R42-million. Can you imagine what a waste if it had ended up in the trash?!
