Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more bizarre, a sea cucumber, known only as the "headless chicken sea monster", has been spotted on camera swimming off Antarctica.

According to Mirror, the correct name for the creature is 'Enypniastes eximia' and it is a strange webbed creature that has a transparent body which spoons food into its mouth using its feet, and it glows to fend off predators.

Wikipedia reports that it ranges between 11cm and 25cm in size, and has a distinct colour (pink for the smaller ones, and a dark reddish-brown for the larger ones).

Emitting light from its feet, tentacle tips, and other points on its body, it is also reported that it throws up its internal organs to scare away potential threats - a defence tactic to keep them safe while swimming way down under.

It's weird, wonderful, and probably the strangest looking creature I've seen by far.
