Tourist proves why you should never touch a wild animal

One tourist did not take heed of the 'keep your hands inside the vehicle at all times' request - and nearly paid dearly for it.

When you see animals in the wild, is it not the norm to stay inside your vehicle and be cautious? It’s now become quite clear to me that a select few didn’t get the memo that says 'wild animals are dangerous'.

A few weeks ago, I chatted about a wildlife park owner who managed to survive a brutal attack after being mauled by a lion. Many on social media called him out for entering the enclosure - irrespective of whether he was able to handle the wild animal or not.

Now this time it’s an unidentified holidaymaker who also decided to take a chance, and not only put his life at risk, but many other tourists' lives as well.

According to Metro, a game drive turned into a nightmare for a group of tourists who pulled up next to a pride of lions. Enter the hero who thinks he can put his hand out the window and touch the lion, and as other tourists in the vehicle plead with him to close the window, it’s as if karma is waiting to teach him a little life lesson. As the huge beast turns around, the window gets jammed.

Thankfully, the dumb tourist, including the others in the vehicle, managed to walk away from the situation unharmed.

I have to shake my head when I see people behaving like this and when they are harmed, there’s the part of me that says that they deserve all they get.

If you are considering visiting a wildlife park with lions in the near future, here are a few valuable facts that you need to know about:

  • Don’t underestimate the speed of a lion and the real possibility that it can tear off an arm within seconds.
  • A lion has the power to pull you out of a safari vehicle.
  • A lion can crash its way through an open window.

What do you think should happen to people who do not listen to wildlife park rules and regulations? Should they be banned or punished in some way?
