Humpback whale breaches just metres from boat
This humpback whale breached next to a fishing boat in the New York harbour and it is incredible!
I remember a time I was out on a yacht and there were whales in the distance.
I asked the skipper what would happen if one of them were to bump us or just jump next to the yacht.

His reply was: "We don't want to think about that, it could capsize us..."
I must be honest, I spent the next few hours panicking a bit.
Rightly so, because when you see this footage of a humpback whale jumping out the water right next to a boat, you wonder how it never capsized the vessel.

It's a terrifying moment the whale's enormous head lurches from the ocean and it open its massive jaws just inches from the man inside the boat.
The whale - more than six times the length of the boat - had been tailing them in the lead-up to its jump.
Crazy!
