Has your physical appearance ever affected your dating life?

After seeing a story which got Damon thinking, he wanted to know from KZN listeners if their weight has had a negative effect on their love and dating life?

I always used to think that size doesn't matter when it comes to finding your soulmate. I know everyone has personal preferences when it comes to finding people attractive, but if you truly are into someone, should their weight play a part in any way? 

I came across this story which made the rounds in 2015 and has recently resurfaced about a woman whose weight has always had an impact on her life. According to Metro, Yvette Caster was an overweight child, a thin teenager, an underweight student, then she became bigger with time.

As a single woman, she has been trying to find her special partner in life. She was interested to see if size really was a factor. So she decided to create two identical online dating profiles of herself to find out. And the results were surprising.


Over the course of five days, her pics on her 'fat' profile received 18 messages, 74 likes, and 81 visits, while the 'thin' pics got double the attention – 36 messages, 211 likes, and 210 visits. It showed her that on this particular dating sites, the men preferred the thinner version of her. However, she has not allowed her experiment to affect her. "The most important element to me is that no matter my size, I’m now twice as confident in my body than I was as a size 10," she said.

While trolling the internet, I came across this dating social experiment which has raised a few eyebrows. It is said that the number one fear for men when dating online is finding out that a woman is 'bigger' than in their profile pictures. Some of the reactions to this experiment really got me thinking about how people perceive outward appearances.
