Windy weather or not, this woman inspired us to see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow...

The windstorm at the beginning of the week didn't leave us with much to desire. It was another bleak reminder that we are vulnerable to Mother Nature's will.

It did remind us that while we don't have control over the stormy weather, we do have perspective—something that often gets lost in the shuffle.

We can secure our belongings and take the necessary safety precautions. That's one way of looking at things, and then there is the metaphorical way of viewing a windstorm. Many religious communities have long interpreted storms as a test of faith. Many believe there's a hidden message beneath the howling winds and harsh downpours.

One KZN woman from Inanda reminded us that perspective can make a scary day hopeful. Vuyela Lamula was scared when the heavy winds caused some of the roof tiles in her home to fall.

However, this didn't stop her from experiencing her 'it's always darkest before the dawn' moment.

She gazed at the sky and saw a beautiful rainbow amidst the windstorm. It was truly a 'pot at the end of the rainbow' moment. We asked her to share what she felt at that moment, and this is what she had to say: "I always choose happiness. I always look for something good and positive. And I happened to find a rainbow. Apart from that, the rainbow feels like the worst is over, and we can be happy."

KZN'ers will be happy to know that, according to the South African Weather Services (SAWS), there are no current weather alerts and Durban can expect sunny skies for the rest of the week.
