As animal lovers, we know that there is an innate connection or bond between humans and animals.

One that cannot always be explained. But we sometimes limit those connections to animals that usually fall under the heading, 'pet'.

Dogs, cats, and the like. You won't usually find people declaring their connections with monkeys, for instance. Especially in KZN!

But this is exactly what happened between a man in Sri Lanka and a monkey.

The man from Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, would feed and care for the monkey each time it visited his home.

And after his passing, the monkey felt his absence. It was evident that he missed the man's kindness and love.

At the man's funeral, the monkey was seen sitting on the side of his casket.

The long-tailed fella is clearly disturbed and upset seeing the man lying there, motionless.

And he attempts to wake him up. It is one thing seeing a family mourning, but somehow when you see an animal showing sadness over losing someone, it is even more heartbreaking.
