"Low and behold you had crossed two traffic lights..."

Carol Ofori had a traumatic experience recently when she was signing up her two-year-old for Sunday School at church.

As she let go of her little one's hand to sign a piece of paper, she turned to notice that her daughter was not there anymore.

Of course, like any parent in this situation, she was fretful and ran around like a headless chicken trying to locate her.

She did eventually find her, but the topic sparked a memory when she was actually four-years-old and went missing whilst with her mother in Johannesburg CBD.

In true tradition, Carol took this opportunity to put her mum in the hot seat.

Mum was put on the spot and asked on-air to share the story with KZN. That time when she got so weak in her knees that strangers held her up from falling to the ground.

Carol laughed when her mom said that this was only one occasion where she was lost, the first time. And that her granddaughter would indeed give her a good run as a mother.

As much as it was fun and light-hearted to hear Carol's mum share the story that had a happy ending, not all parents are able to share the same sentiment.

Because the reality is that child trafficking is a real thing and if there is one thing that she left us with, it's that you should always keep your eyes locked on your child.
