Updated | By Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
Sinoyolo Sifo, known as Sifo The Cooking Husband, is a pharmacist by profession and a multi-award cookbook author. He is also a self-taught home cook and a social-media food influencer by passion.

Carol Ofori was delighted to host Sifo, The Cooking Husband, on her show on Friday, 13 June.
Sinoyolo Sifo grew up in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape. He developed his enthusiasm for food by watching his mother cook and helping his father work in his butchery during school holidays.
What many might not know is that Sifo's a pharmacist by profession. From pharmacist to cookbook author and now social media food influencer, it may look like Sifo shifted gears with his passion, but he says he has always loved food. He was always surrounded by food as a kid, with his father being a butcher.
Sifo was motivated and inspired by his wife, Nondumiso and began his food journey on Instagram in 2020. Here, he continues to amass an ever-growing following of people who love his easy-to-make, hearty, delicious meals.
His primary goal is to encourage men to cook and support their partners in the kitchen. Flipping the script on the traditional South African home dynamics, one post at a time.
Sifo's dedication to cooking has led to collaborations with prominent brands across South Africa, establishing him as a noteworthy macro food influencer.
He has been featured in leading South African food magazines, participated as a contestant in the MasterChef SA Celebrity edition, and received accolades such as the 2024 DStv Content Creator of the Year, 2024 DStv Foodie of the Year, and 2024 Galliova Egg Hero award, and 2025 Africa Travel & Tourism (100 Most Impactful People).

Sifo admits that he's always been shy. Still, this chapter of his story has allowed him to break many stereotypes about being a black man who is also a husband and passionate about cooking.
He said, " In the kitchen, the husband must be active. There must be love shown in the kitchen. I think we use it as a love language for my wife and me, and it really helps us. And I've seen a lot of guys joining in. People hit me up and say, bro, your book helped me so much the other day."
His journey is filled with a positive approach to breaking the old-fashioned gender stereotypes. His first cookbook, which he calls his 'baby', is filled with recipes he holds close to his heart and tummy. " It was more about the dishes. I grew up eating these dishes," said Sifo.
